Beutler developer

This is a high-definition developer. It gives best results with slow films such as Pan F.
Part A

Metol10g
Calgon2g
Sodium sulphite (sulfite in US)anhydrous50g
Waterto 1 Litre
Part B
Calgon2g
Sodium Carbonate50g
Waterto 1 Litre
Take one part A plus ten parts water plus one part B. I use a developing time of 15 minutes at 20C. for pan F or fp4 plus. As it is a dilute developer, it's not as active as some. It is not suitable for use with fast films of 400 ISO and above. As the working solution has only 4% of the sodium sulphite, half the metol, and none of the hydroquinone of D76, it could be considered more environmentally friendly than full strength D76. I generally omit the Calgon.
